Chelsea have announced a deal for a consortium led by Todd Boelli to take over the club from Roman Abramovich.
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine earlier this year, Abramovich was placed under sanctions by the British government on March 10 and his assets frozen after ties to Vladimir Putin.
Since then, Chelsea have been operating under a special government license which allows them to continue their football activities.
The European champions have until May 31 to change hands before their government license expires, threatening the club's future in the Premier League.
However, the club confirmed that private LA Dodgers owner Boehly - who has reportedly seen a takeover bid for Abramovich in 2019 - has fended off competition from Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Sir Martin Broughton and Stephen Palyuka to replace Abramovich.
