Today's Transfer News Update: Brentford are set to lose playmaker Christian Eriksen, Milan eye Ziyech loan move, Mendes talks Ronaldo with Barcelona, Spurs poised to sign Lenglet
1 Brentford are set to lose playmaker Christian Eriksen – who has agreed personal terms with Manchester United as a free agent – but they are closing in on two signings.
A report in The Athletic outlines that they are set to pay a club record £14 million with add-ons to sign Scotland international full-back Aaron Hickey from Bologna.
They are then likely to break that figure again in their pursuit to sign Hull’s Keane Lewis-Potter with a third bid of over £20million likely to be enough to seal that deal.
2. Milan eye Ziyech loan move
Milan want to sign winger Hakim Ziyech on loan from Chelsea this summer, report The Athletic.
The Moroccan joined the Blues in 2020 from Ajax and has netted 14 goals across his two campaigns at Stamford Bridge but has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot.
With Chelsea hopeful of a deal to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City this summer, Ziyech may be on the way out.
3. Mendes talks Ronaldo with Barcelona
Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has discussed his client’s future with Barcelona president Joan Laporta over dinner on Monday, claims a sensational report in Diario AS.
The two were also discussing the futures of Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leao and Ruben Neves, but the name of Ronaldo – who wants to leave Manchester United this summer – was also mentioned.
Quite how Barca would be able to afford his wages are another matter, but imagine Real Madrid’s all-time club record goal scorer moving to the Camp Nou…
4. Spurs poised to sign Lenglet
Tottenham are set to make Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet their fifth arrival of the summer transfer window.
The Frenchman is set to join Spurs on a season-long loan deal to bolster Antonio Conte’s options in the heart of the side’s defence.
Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Fraser Forster have already been signed by the North London club this summer.
Lenglet started just seven La Liga matches for Barca last season as he fell behind Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo, while Andreas Christensen has joined from Chelsea.
Clément Lenglet to Tottenham, just matter of time and then… here we go soon. Agreement’s being finalised between Barcelona and Tottenham on loan deal, working on details.
