England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed he needs time to decide his future after the country's World Cup exit.
The Three Lions failed to reach the semifinals of a major tournament for the third straight season after being beaten 2-1 by France on Saturday.
Harry Kane equalized from the penalty spot after Aurelien Chouameny had given France a first-half lead before Olivier Giroud restored his side's lead and Kane failed to score for a second time from 12 yards, blasting his late spot-kick over the bar.
The defeat knocked England out of the 2022 World Cup in the quarter-finals and Southgate was asked about his future after the game.
As a result of the defeat, England were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup at the quarter-final stage, and after the game, Southgate was questioned about his future.
The England boss said: "I think whenever I finish these tournaments, I've needed time to make correct decisions.
"Emotionally you go through so many different feelings. The energy it takes through these tournaments is enormous. I want to make the right decision, whatever that is for the team, for England, for the FA.
"I've got to be sure whatever decision I make is the right one. I think it's right to take time to do that because I know in the past my feelings have fluctuated in the immediate aftermath of tournaments."
Southgate, who has a contract with England until the end of Euro 2024, also praised his side following the defeat.
"We were here to try to win the tournament," Southgate added. "We had the belief that we could, and we showed in our performance tonight against the reigning champions, that we have a team that could have done that."
France will face Morocco in Wednesday's semi-final after the Atlas Lions beat Portugal 1-0 to become the first African side to reach the last four of a World Cup.
